Keynote Speach on Career for College Students in San Diego

September 17, 2008 by Jorge Olson · Leave a Comment

I was the keynote speaker yesterday at a local San Diego college.    The speech topic was for self promotion in starting your career.  It showed the students how to start networking and promoting themselves right now in order to have a great job or business when they graduate.  It as a self help, self promotion, motivational and career speech topic all in one.

I had a great time and got good feedback from the students, several of them approached me to tell me about their dreams and aspiration now and after graduation.

I never considered myself a professional keynote speaker

I’ve been a “public speaker” for years now.  I even competed since I was 7 years old.  Latter in life I used my public speaking in social service and more recently in business.  I never considered myself a professional keynote speaker until now.

Yes, I’ve done many training classes and seminars but not with a speaker mindset. Now I have the speaker mindset!

Tomorrow I have a 1:15 hour presentation at a local college to help students prepare their carrier.   I am very excited!  I only wished when I was that age that an executive would teach me how to find a job, or start a business, or network, learn self promotion and more.

I whent to my first NSA - National Speakers Association meeting on Friday in the San Diego chapter.  It was a great meeting with outstanding people.  Many professional keynote speakers, trainers and seminar facilitators.  I had a great time and am looking forward to the next meeting.

Selling by Numbers

Keynote Speaking and Seminars… “If Selling is an art, it’s painting by numbers”. Everyone sells; we sell at home, in school, as a brother, a parent, a child. We sell at work, with the family, everywhere. Every time we communicate and try to make a point we’re selling.Selling is nothing more than a specific way of communicating your point. Learn key human communication skills and techniques and you’re a great sales person, you are an artist. Nobody knows you are painting by numbers!

From sales training to sales best practices, find out how to use the proper methodology to sell more of your product.

Start with the lead process and lead quality, follow it with lead management and qualification and take it to product presentation and positioning. Yes, and the very important close and follow up service. Find the best tools for your salespeople, the different ways to sell your products or services, and how customers relate and use them.

Time and time again I’ve heard that “selling is an art”. If selling is art, it is “painting by numbers”. Contact me about sales consulting or a keynote speech, workshop or conference.
